Suitability screening
Before joint sessions, we ask confidential questions about voluntary participation, safety concerns, recent violence or intimidation, active legal restrictions, emergency needs, and whether any participant is under 18.
Outcomes of screening
- Where responses indicate immediate danger or active abuse, a normal joint-session booking is not appropriate.
- We may recommend an individual consultation first.
- We may pause or decline a joint session at any time where participation appears unsafe.
- We do not attempt to resolve reports of active abuse through ordinary couples consultation.
Referral
Where a matter falls outside our scope, we recommend appropriate emergency, safeguarding, legal, medical or clinical support.
