Individual Conversation Preparation
Prepare a clear, respectful approach to a difficult conversation.
A focused session to prepare one specific conversation you are finding difficult: what you want to say, how to say it plainly and respectfully, and what you will do if the conversation does not go the way you hope.
What the structured conversation covers
- Defining what you actually want from the conversation
- Wording that is clear without being combative
- Preparing for likely responses
- Deciding in advance what you will and will not agree to
What it does not cover
- Diagnosis, assessment or treatment of any condition
- Therapy, counselling or psychological treatment
- Legal, financial, immigration or custody advice
- Emergency, crisis or out-of-hours response
- Scripting anything intended to pressure or mislead another person
Typical topics people bring
- Raising an issue you have avoided
- Setting a boundary with a family member
- Discussing a practical arrangement calmly
- Ending or changing a commitment
Eligibility and how screening works
Availability and suitability are confirmed after a request is reviewed.
You send a short request describing the topic. Nuviora reviews whether it is within what this service can responsibly discuss and replies in writing — either with what an appointment would involve, or with a clear statement that this is not the right service. Nothing is scheduled or charged unless you confirm in writing afterwards.
Consultations are limited to relationship and communication discussion. They are not therapy, counselling, psychological treatment, medical care, legal advice or crisis response.
How the hour is structured
- Agreeing the topic — The session opens by naming one topic and writing it down. If more than one issue is raised, they are listed and one is chosen. Anything outside the scope of the service is identified here, not halfway through.
- Each account, uninterrupted — In an individual session this is your account of the situation. In a couples session each person speaks in turn without interruption, and is then asked to summarise what they heard before responding.
- Separating fact, assumption and interpretation — Most stuck conversations are a mix of things that happened, things that were assumed, and meanings that were attached. Separating those three usually shrinks the disagreement to something workable.
- Practical steps — The session closes with steps that are specific, within your own control, and stated in your own words — not advice about what another person ought to do.
- A short written summary — Where you want one, you receive a brief written note of the topic and the agreed steps. You can ask for it to be deleted at any time.
How to prepare
- Write the topic in one sentence before the session. If you cannot, that is useful information in itself.
- Choose a place where you can speak without being overheard, and where you will not be interrupted for the full duration.
- Use headphones if others are in the building. For couples sessions, both people should join from the same device or from two quiet rooms.
- Have a way to write down the steps agreed at the end — paper is usually better than a phone.
- Decide beforehand what you would consider a useful hour. It is rarely 'the other person changes'.
